The bomb blast in 1996 destroyed the Central Bank Library. However, the Central Bank was able to re-establish the library in several months. Branch Library at then Rural Banking and Staff Training College at Rajagiriya (currently Centre for Banking Studies - CBS) was setup in 1981 to provide library facilities to the faculty members. The Central Bank Library mainly focuses on providing the information needs of CBSL employees. At present, it holds nearly 60,000 volumes. The Central Bank Library is the focal point of eBanklibNetSL, the Economics and Banking Library Network of Sri Lanka and a member of the group of Central Bank Libraries. Further improvement of the services provided by the LIC is necessary to meet the future challenges.
